Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are a cosmetic dental treatment designed to alter the appearance of your smile by improving the shape, colour, and alignment of your teeth. They are thin, custom-made shells that are carefully bonded to the front surface of teeth to address cosmetic concerns such as discoloration, chipped or worn teeth, small gaps and minor misalignment.
At Delicate Dentistry, we take a personalised approach to dental veneers to ensure results that mimic natural tooth structure and suit your facial features. Every treatment is carefully planned to match your desired outcome while maintaining a healthy tooth structure. Our focus is on creating a balanced, confident smile that still feels completely like your own.

Who Needs Dental Veneers and What are the Indications?

Veneers are the most commonly performed dental procedures because of their ability to correct multiple cosmetic concerns.
- Veneers are indicated to restore teeth with cracks and chips.
- Worn down teeth or teeth with enamel erosion.
- Discoloured enamel or dark teeth.
- Uneven teeth, closing the gaps between the teeth and correcting the appearance of small sized, oddly shaped and mismatched teeth.

Types of Dental Veneers
Veneers are made from either porcelain or composite.

Porcelain veneers are custom made of porcelain (dental ceramic) in the dental laboratory and then glued on the teeth and hence they are termed as indirect restorations.
Why choose porcelain veneers?
- Porcelain veneers have many advantages over composite veneers.
- They are longer lasting. They last for around 10-15 years.
- They do not stain or discolour. Porcelain veneers have a nonporous surface and do not absorb coloured pigments.
- They are known for their ability to replicate the natural translucency of teeth and as a result can achieve a more natural appearance closely resembling natural teeth. Therefore, they do not look like dental work done or fake.
For individuals seeking a long-lasting smile make over, porcelain veneers are better suited for most of the cases.
Composite veneers are made of dental composite resin. They are budget friendly and can be done in one to two appointments depending on the number of teeth involved.
Why choose composite veneers?
- Advantages – Lower cost compared to porcelain veneers. Unlike porcelain veneers if chipped or broken, they can be repaired easily.
- Direct restorations – No dental laboratory work involved.
- Although composite veneers look good and are economical, they are not as long lasting as porcelain veneers. They last around 5-7 years.
- Composite veneers typically require minimal enamel removal, making them a more conservative option compared to some porcelain veneer procedures.
Porcelain Veneers Procedure Overview
Initial appointment
Discuss your needs and expectations about your smile transformation. This followed by a photographic session.
Smile Design
Smile design using 2D /3D smile design software. Design is discussed and once approved by the patient and the dentist, an initial impression is made or scanned and sent to the lab for wax pattern.
Dental lab
The dental lab will make the wax pattern according to the smile designed. Tooth preparation is done accordingly, and an impression made or scanned and sent to the lab.
Temporary Veneers
The teeth are restored with temporary veneers. Meanwhile the veneers are made in the lab. The temporary veneers are removed, and the veneers are tried on and glued on to the tooth. In case of composite veneers after the smile design, the veneers are done directly onto the tooth.
